Air fare alone isn't much lower than the cost of this trip. Though I haven't stayed at The Ranch, I have gone to Steamboat several times in the past couple of years and frequently see the shuttle bus, so it does run frequently. Also, if you want lessons, Steamboat also has one of the top ski/snowboard schools around (definitely in Top 10, may be Top 5 - don't remember which mag I read the review, but it was up there). I have taken many lessons there and found the instructors excellent. Oh, if you can avoid it, don't wear a light blue ski jacket - that's the color the instructors wear. The only concern I have is that in 2012, they did not get any significant snowball until President's Day weekend (34 inches in 2 days). Before that, there wasn't much of a base and it was also fairly warm (27-34 degrees). Hope 2013 results in better weather. This is a really good price.
