rockettescentOn October 3, 2009, Fourteen NSC members and guests came out to a repeat ride on the Coyote Creek Trail in San Jose. It was sunny day with warm fall temperatures in the air. Quite a difference from the same ride that we did in 2006, there were no rain or dampness in the air.

As we waited for a few late comers to show up in the morning, the rest of the group was treated to coffee and breakfast. After a few introductions, group picture and reciting the rules of the road, we took off around 11:00am and single file rode together to our lunch stop that was 15 miles away. We didn’t see any mountain lions along the way but we did see a few squirrels scrambling in front of us and a few Bambi’s grazing in the bushes.

When we got to our destination, everyone was ready to sink their teeth into their Cuban Sandwiches. What’s a Cuban sandwich you asked? A hearty sandwich filled with layers of roasted pork, ham, provolone cheese, pickles, and mustard on a French bread. The whole sandwich is later pressed on a cast iron pan. Mmm.. maybe a new idea for 2010 Trip 1? Baked almonds, a Soy Joy bar and a cookie were also in everyone’s lunch package.

Everyone had a nice time sharing their summer adventures at the lunch stop. Don’t forget we have to ride back now.  Against head winds and one flat reported, everyone made it back safely. Snacks and Drinks were provided to end a perfect day.
