The scheduling and the budgeting for the weekend ski trip is finally complete and the sign up form for the weekend trips is in the newsletter and on the website. This year, thanks to lower hotel costs and a subsidy from the club, the member price for the weekend ski trips will only be $135 (if you’re on Facebook, you probably know this already). I realize that there were some votes to stay in the Tahoe area for the weekend trip, there were several factors that made this impractical. The biggest factor was the cost. My goal was to decrease the cost of the trips and staying in the immediate Tahoe area would significantly increase the cost of the trips.
Tour Leaders Needed
I need eight tour leader for the weekend ski/snowboard bus trips. Four of the tour leaders need to be veteran and experienced leader. For the other four I would like to find members who have never led a ski trip before. It does take some effort but it is a fun and rewarding experience and for your hard work the ski club covers the cost of your trip and your lift tickets. Lead a ski trip and have a free weekend of skiing or snowboarding in Tahoe with NSC. If you are interested, please contact me:
Mt. Bachelor Overnight Train Trip
Don’t forget to sign up for this great trip. it will be our first overnight train trip in many years and for only $610, you’ll get lodging, transportation, and 4 days of skiing or snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor. The trip leaves and returns out of Oakland at Jack London station (there was a typo in last month’s newsletter). But don’t wait too long to sign up because if I don’t have at least 8 sign-ups before the end of October I will have to cancel the trip. The current headcount for the trip is 1, that’s me.
Potluck and Race
Since the club has not had a race in years, I thought I would try something new by holding the race on a different weekend than the potluck and earlier in the season. The race will either be during Trip #2 or Trip #3 and I’m hoping to be able to schedule the former. In order to run the race, I need a Race Coordinator that has some fresh ideas to get more people involved in the race. Some ideas could be making it less competitive or have other competitions for the race that are not performance related, such as “best costume worn while racing.” Let me know if you are interesting in being Race Coordinator, there’s a lift ticket here with your name on it.
Online Sign Up in November
Since I will have the job of being the Trip Coordinator in addition to Trip Director, I am going to attempt to make my life easier by allowing you to input your sign-up form information online on the website. Payment will likely remain by check for the time being but having you enter your data into the website will make it easier for both you and me. I expect to have this complete by early to mid November.
