If you are looking for a beautiful coastal escape, the Tidelands Trail at the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newark is an absolute must-visit. This scenic path offers stunning, panoramic views of the expansive salt marshes, vibrant wetlands, and local wildlife, making it the perfect spot for a peaceful walk, birdwatching, or catching a breathtaking sunset over the bay.
Dogs on leash are allowed. We will be able to hike it easily in 1.5 hours (2.5 miles).

Once you turn in from Thornton Ave, take the first parking area on your left.
Parking is free. There are portable toilets up the road. Drive past the gate, the toilets will be in the 1st parking lot on your right. GO there first before coming to the Parking meeting area. We will not pass it on the start of our hike.

The Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge is refuge is a preserve along the southern end of San Francisco Bay & the nation’s first urban national wildlife refuge created in 1972.
